As both an educator and a consultant, I look for syncretic ways to combine these differing careers. At the core a consultant and an educator are charged with distributing knowledge. As an educator this is obvious, my students come to me directly to learn and for mentoring. Similarly, through the consultation process, I am able to help my client learn more about the technical and aesthetic aspects of their business processes and aspirations. My students and my clients benefit from an ability to communicate these concepts in a manner suited to a mixed audience. Finally, an educator and a consultant are both expected to be knowledge experts in their areas. This means that I am expected to provide insight when consulted upon but also being proactive and offering my input when I feel I can help.
